The process
What happens to an electronics load on our dock
Four stages, in the order they happen, from trailer to either resale inventory or the recycling stream.

Intake and count
Electronics loads are counted against the manifest and staged by device category as they come off the trailer.

Test and grade
Units are power-tested where practical and graded to a written standard — working, cosmetic damage, or non-functional. Untested units are labelled untested.

Return to resale
Working units and simple fixes (missing cables, flat batteries, scuffed housings) go back into resale inventory with the condition stated on the listing.

Downstream recycling
What genuinely cannot be resold or repaired is handed to a downstream recycling partner for material recovery instead of disposal.
Why it matters
Reselling usable goods keeps them out of the waste stream
Retailers write off returns because sorting and reselling them at national scale costs more than the goods recover. At the unit level, a reseller can inspect, repair and re-home the same goods — which is why liquidation moves usable product back into circulation instead of into disposal.
Electronics show this most clearly. A returned television with a scuffed bezel and a working panel is a write-off to a big-box chain and a repair job to a specialist. We grade and label those units honestly so the buyer who can do the work knows exactly what they are getting, and only genuinely unsellable product enters the recycling stream.

How we label electronics before they are listed
The grade on a listing is the grade the load was given on our floor. Nothing is described as new unless it is unused.
Working
Powered on and functioning at the time of grading. Packaging may show retail wear.
Cosmetic damage
Functioning, with visible marks, scuffs or damaged housing described in the listing.
Untested
Not powered on by us. Sold as untested — assume repair or parts value only.
Salvage / parts
Known non-functional. Priced as parts recovery, never as working goods.
